British tennis star Emma Raducanu ends her season and will keep coach into the 2026 season.
Emma Raducanu advanced to round three in three Grand Slam tournaments Grand Slam events this year.
Britain's Emma Raducanu has pulled out of the last two tournaments of the year because of a medical condition that has affected her for the last week and a half.
At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to regain her health prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.
Her upcoming training are set to feature coach Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together in 2026.
The tennis professional required blood pressure checks during her first-round match versus Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.
She needed once more medical attention at the recent Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.
Raducanu was also moving with clear difficulty in the deciding set against Zhu due to the lower back problem that has been a concern on several occasions in 2025.
Such performances followed a positive campaign, in which she climbed into the international top 30 after a long gap for the first time since 2022, finished with a trio of defeats.
She held three match points before losing to American player Jessica Pegula in round three in Beijing last month.
She secured twenty-eight matches during 2025 and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March.
The British number one advanced to the quarters of this WTA 1000 tournament, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way then falling in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.
She worked with Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over in time for the US Open.
The initial agreement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with planned training sessions for the end of the year.
Raducanu told that the trial session with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.
She came very close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.
Roig joined her in the New York tournament, where she advanced to round three before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
