Homages Continue for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues are still paying respects to the duo.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt ready to express about his profound loss.
"Adequate time has passed that I can finally articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the film, commenting that he cannot recall "any day without joy".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Values that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a separate tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge ruled to block the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A legal directive put a embargo on the files to prohibit the public release of "all case details, notes, reports or photos" associated with the active case.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a public database citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Response and Criticism
In the wake of the deaths, public figures shared divergent reactions.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, providing divisive remarks that were widely condemned by several commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the those speaking out recently. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disturbing" and suggested they demonstrated a troubling lack of empathy.
Rogan ended by remarking that an associate could have acted when the decision to speak on the passing was made.
