Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
