The network's Premier Fresh Series of 2025 Earns a Substantial Renewal for Two More Seasons.

In October of last year, the late-night programming block welcomed back its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. But, shortly thereafter, the network introduced a fresh animated series with a strikingly different vibe. Haha, You Clowns emerged as gentle and comforting, in the spirit of a cartoon version of a serene talk show. During a period often marked by dark humor, this show's wholesomeness found an audience and helped it become a breakout hit.

A Major Commitment

On December 18th, the network revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for a further two seasons. This provides showrunner Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to expand upon the world of the Campbell family. The series follows three well-mannered teenage brothers whose primary trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa voicing for all four central characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the viewers of the show who welcomed the series and shared it with others," remarked Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to continue exploring the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Executive Acclaim

Accompanying the news laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny." He specifically highlighted the fans who embraced the show and championed its uniquely offbeat appeal.

"All of you supported this new show, championed for it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a gentle counterpart" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something surprisingly comfy about observing this endearing family navigate their daily lives.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa expressed his hope to help comedy break out of its current cynical streak. He linked this trend to a broader media landscape.

“There's this level of irony that we keep returning to,” explained Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we just have to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

Future Seasons

Now, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa may well help usher in that comedic shift. At a minimum, the renewal guarantees audiences a little more time to experience the gentle humor of the endearing Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. All episodes is currently streaming on HBO Max.
