The original stars, Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to reprise their roles in the new Hunger Games series movie, Sunrise on the Reaping.
Reports indicate that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.
An Important Return to Panem
Lawrence and Hutcherson are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. It is believed their appearance will probably be featured in a flash-forward sequence, given that the original saga concluded with their characters married and with children.
This marks the sixth installment in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It serves as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who was behind nearly all the previous films in the series.
A New Era in Panem
The film's events are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.
The supporting roles feature several accomplished actors in important characters:
- Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a earlier incarnation of the menacing President Snow.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence stars in the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson stars in the sequel to the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
