Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

Remembering the Victims

The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the passing of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge comes as the global fight fans offered condolences for the star in the wake of the terrible crash.
